Who we are
Examate (“we”, “us”) runs examate.in, a placement-preparation platform used by colleges and students. Our office is at 4th Floor, Vasavi MPM Grand, Yella Reddy Guda, Ameerpet, Hyderabad 500073, India. This policy covers the website and the Examate app.
What we collect
- Your account. Your name, email address and phone number, and, when you or your college add them, your college, branch, section and roll number. You sign in with Google or with an email and password, handled by Google Firebase Authentication. We email you a code to verify a new account.
- Your work on the platform. Your test answers, the code you submit and its results, your scores, the time you spend on each question, your course progress and any feedback you give.
- Exam monitoring, only when your college turns it on for an exam. Depending on the exam, this can include your camera and microphone, camera snapshots during the exam, a recording of your screen, when you switch tabs or leave full screen, and browser extensions that could help you cheat. The exam’s start screen tells you what is on before you begin.
- AI mock interviews. A recording of the interview (your microphone, and your camera when the interview asks for it), the transcript, the résumé you provide, and the report written from your answers.
- Your own Gemini key, if you choose to interview on it. It is stored encrypted and used only to run your interviews.
- Payments. Payments are processed by Cashfree Payments. We receive the order, amount and whether it succeeded. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details.
- Usage data. We use Google Analytics, which sets cookies and records the pages you visit, your device and browser, and your approximate location. We also keep the sign-in cookies the app needs to work.
The free lessons need no account. The résumé builder keeps what you type in your own browser; it is not sent to our servers.
How we use it
- To run the platform: sign you in, deliver tests, courses and interviews, grade your work and show your results.
- To give your college the results and integrity reports for the tests and interviews it assigns you.
- To email you about your account, verification codes and work assigned to you.
- To answer your questions, keep the platform secure and prevent abuse, and find out what to improve.
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models.
Who can see it
- Your college. If your account belongs to a college, its administrators can see your profile, results, monitoring records, interview recordings and reports for the work they assign.
- Examate staff, when needed to support you or your college or to keep the platform running.
- Service providers that process data for us: Google (Firebase sign-in, the Gemini AI that conducts interviews and writes reports, and Analytics), Cashfree Payments, and the companies that host our servers, store files and send our emails. When you interview on your own Gemini key, Google’s terms for that key also apply.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
How long we keep it and how we protect it
We keep your data while your account is active, or for as long as your college needs your records. If you ask us to delete it, we will, unless the law requires us to keep it. Data travels over encrypted connections, access is limited to the people and systems that need it, and keys you give us are encrypted at rest.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can withdraw consent you have given, as provided by India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Write to the grievance officer below. Examate is meant for college students and graduates; if you are under 18, use it only with a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date at the top.
